So Montréal is a pretty diverse city. Still, being born and raised here it took me years to fully realize that my city had so much to offer.

I always stuck to the basics: big malls, mainstream clubs, bars, etc. It is only recently that I noticed I was bored!!!! More specifically, I felt like Montréal had nothing to offer, like it was dying, or was already dead!!! There seemed to be no excitement, the same people were everywhere…. I couldn’t believe this had happened. Could this city really appear overrated, repetitive, and boring to me after just a few years of partying??

That’s when I recognized that I was the one with the problem. I had always followed the basic staples of entertainment so I couldn’t be surprised that I was already bored. Of course this is not to say that these places did not have their appeal, but rather that it was time for me to consider the many other possibilities my city provided.

Following my new approach I have now undertaken the task of exploring Montréal. I want to learn about this diversity we prize ourselves for. The music scene has so much to offer that I am surprised I have managed to grow up here sticking to one genre!! Now is the time to open my mind and dig into the many subcultures pulsating throughout Montréal. I am not looking for big venues, artists, or individuals.

Rather I’m searching for the individual within the masses. I hope to encounter the up and coming DJ in a genre I am unfamiliar with (and it would seem there are many!!!!). The regular guy or girl who expresses themselves in some art form or other, they are the ones that should be sought out. Youths taking on their dreams and pushing for them in this city of diversity. I do not know where this will lead but I do hope that this is an adventure I will be able to share. I want to portray the underground or less promoted aspects of Montréal city life. I’m not saying that I will uncover some mystery of any sort…..but at the very least this will serve as an opportunity to discover the variety, diversity and culture this metropolitan can always be proud of.

Furthermore, I would like to emphasize that my posts will be open to comments, ideas, venues, or even people anyone might be interested in having presented or introduced. This is something I am undertaking to represent the life in Montréal and for this reason I invite all to make their contribution when it will be possible!!!
